Recreation and Parks Special Events

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Held at the Snowflake Municipal Golf Course, hundreds of children and their parents come out to search for several thousand eggs, donated by a local supermarket. Special plastic eggs that are found are turned in for prizes at the end of the hunt. Lucky children can also find 4 Grand Prize eggs (divided by age groups), which entitles them to the special Grand Prize basket of toys and candy. The event is held on the Friday or Saturday before Easter, weather permitting.

Free Swim Days

On opening day (usually Memorial Day), or special commemorative days (such as Pioneer Days, Fourth of July Celebration, or Tobacco Education and Prevention Day) the pool is open at no cost.

Thursday Night At the Park

Each Thursday night during the summer months, starting at 7:30, local musicians entertain residents and visitors in the cool shade of our Pioneer Park. A variety of music and activities fills the cools summer nights.

Snowflake/Taylor Fourth of July Softball Tournament

Both a men's and women's tournament attracts visitors from throughout the State who come to celebrate the Fourth of July in Snowflake's cool summer nights, along with other events (such as a rodeo and dance) that occur during this traditional patriotic time.

Taylor Fourth of July Celebration Run

A 10-k and 2-mile fun run is offered each year. Several dozen participants vie for the titles that are offered in several age and gender categories.

Pioneer Day Celebration Run and Fireworks

Also a 10k or 2-mile run, a hundred participants that come to the Town for Pioneer Days. Pioneer Days is a weekend long celebration of the Pioneer spirit that forged the livelihood of the early residents of this part of Arizona. The celebration includes a rodeo, parade, barbeque, dance, and fireworks. The fireworks are set off at the rodeo grounds at the end of the rodeo.

Labor Day Softball Tournament

Families come from around the state to escape the heat and enjoy a solid competition of several dozen men's and women's teams. The event runs the entire weekend, and awards are presented to winning teams in several divisions.

Christmas Tree Lighting

Santa Claus makes a special appearance on the Snowflake Fire Engine, where crowds gather at Heritage Square. Goody bags, cookies and hot chocolate, holiday music, and cheer combine to form this festive event. The Christmas Tree Lighting is a culmination of the 12 Days of Christmas Celebration, where residents come together for special holiday inspired events.

Silver Creek Performing Arts Association

Throughout the year, the Association hosts artists from around the country offering the best in both contemporary music and drama. Visit the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce for additional information.
