Special Programs

School Resource Officer Program and the DARE Program

The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department believes that an integral part of law enforcement begins with education. The Department maintains a School Resource Officer (SRO) who assists the Junior High and High School with an education program aimed at teaching young minds responsible citizenship. The nationally-recognized DARE program has been successful in providing drug interdiction through education.

Annual Bike Rodeo

Held in May, This activity attracts hundreds of children from the two communities of Snowflake and Taylor. Participants learn how to control their bicycles and about laws related to bicycle safety.  Participants may receive free bike helmets and t-shirts, as a way of increasing awareness of personal safety.

Neighborhood Block Watch

This program actively involves residents in helping police to watch each other’s homes, thus encouraging the neighborly atmosphere that Snowflake and Taylor is famous for. Participating families work with Police in evening seminars on increasing awareness. Please contact the Snowflake Police Department for information on assisting or starting a Block Watch in your neighborhood.
